soo...i'm on summer vacation now, and it's raining like a motherfucker..i can't wait til we get actual nice weather i really don't knwo what to write in here...i'm was just reading other people's livejournal entries from high school and it makes me laugh. so many people had written stupid stuff like " i can't wait to get drunk", even though we were underage. its funny too, cuz i always can't wait to get drunk lol. i'm sure one day it will all bite me in the ass.
i think i might go watch tv, or do something unproductive. i was going to clean the apartemtn, but fuck it...i cleaned all day sunday before we had a party
i'm going to amherst the weekend of the 27th, it should be a good time. Im bringing Jen w/ me so she'll get to meet all the crazy people in amherst. Paula is coming home too, mal and ryan are off work that weekend (i think) so it may be a good time :) one will see i suppose.
i'm just glad school is over. my stress level went down like 98%
dear livejournal, I don't want for us to break up. i've been seeing someone else. I just need somebody on the side for when i get bored, and i guess you will have to do, but for now i'll have you know that his name is Facebook
well i really shouldn't be writing in here because i have 10 million other things to get done, buttttt i just thought i would because i'm in a procrastinating mood. plus i never come on here anymore.
Tomorrow i get to go to Florida:D i'm so excited!! My cousin tim is getting married so i'm going down for about 5 days or so. the only part that's taking away from the excitement is the fact that when i come back to halifax, i have so much work to do for classes that i'm probably gonna blow my brains out.
I'm gonna try to do paper while i'm away, since i have lay overs n stuff on my way there and back, so chances are good that i'll get bored enough and do some of it. I just got my hair done this week too, which is good. lacey bleached all my hair and it went orangy so she put a toner in it, and then yesterday she had an interview at kara's urban day spa and she had to bringin a model to do highlights, so she did my hair and put lowlights in it, so now i don't look so much like Eminem, but later when i get home from school she's putting toner on it again to get rid of some of the yellow i believe. Plus I got to get my hair cut as part of the process too so it all works out.
I have an exam at 4 that i should be studying for, but i just spend like almost 3 hours reading over all my notes for the class to brush up my memory...plus it's kind of hard to study for this because my prof is gonan give us quotations from the plays and we have to elaborate on those. I guess as long as i know the basic shit about the play. the only ones i'm not too sure on are King Lear and Titus Andronicus...which i'm sure most people don't really care what it's about.
Anyways, i'm taking off....i need a tea and to read some more peace out bitches <3
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I don't want it to end!!! i think i may be having an oc marathon this weekend, because i am a loser lol
i'm just sitting here....just got home from sparks. the girls are so cute! one of them tonight said i was the best tim hortons girl ever (because she saw me down there working one day) and she goes shhhh don't tell anyone it has to be a secret hahahaha, kids are so funny
I think i might go in the living room and watch a depressing movie, eat popcorn and finish reading romeo and juliet...sounds like a plan to me...maybe i'll be smart, and watch romeo and juliet adn read along at the same time. (wow, i am a nerd)
i kinda wished i didn't work this week because i coudl've gone home. however, if i went home i definitely wouldn't get any work done...so i had to get started on my stuff before i take off to the states for a few days i better get my passport soon...they said the 20th..but i don tknow if they were mailing it on the 20th or if i was supposed to have it by then...so i don't really know what's going on
anyways...i'm gonna go read or something peace out bitches xx
I'm really lazy...i never write in here anymore. it could be because i have 10 000 other things to do..hmm i just finished doing my history readings that took me all week to do (not even kidding, it was so boring)... i'm just kind of wasting time at the library because i have class at 4, and i was dawdling on myspace.
theres this hot guy in my english class and his band is playing tomorrow night at gus' pub..i'm somewhat tempted to go, but that might be weird.. on another note.....TERI! i think i'm going out saturday night...and if i do, you should join me! i'm not totally sure i am going, but ti would be nice to get out
anyways, time for coffee, and class peace out homies
Mamas and Papas Member Dead at 66 Jan 19, 5:07 PM EST
The Associated Press
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Denny Doherty, one-quarter of the 1960s folk-rock group the Mamas and the Papas, known for their soaring harmony on hits like "California Dreamin'" and "Monday, Monday," died Friday at 66.
His sister Frances Arnold said the singer-songwriter died at his home in Mississauga, a city just west of Toronto, after a short illness.
The group burst on the national scene in 1966 with the top 10 smash "California Dreamin'." The Mamas and the Papas broke new ground by having women and men in one group at a time when most singing groups were unisex. John Phillips, the group's chief songwriter; his wife, Michelle; and another female vocalist, Cass Elliot, teamed with Doherty.
"Monday, Monday" hit No. 1 on the charts and won the band a Grammy for best contemporary group performance. Among the group's other songs were "I Saw Her Again Last Night," "Go Where You Wanna Go," "Dancing Bear," and versions of "I Call Your Name" and "Dedicated to the One I Love."
"What made the group special was their haunting and sumptuous harmony singing," according to "The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll."
In 1998, the Mamas and the Papas were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The group's catchy sound was a blend of '60s upbeat pop and the folk music that had surged in popularity early in the decade. The song "Creeque Alley" told the story of their formation amid the musical ferment of the folk scene; among the other stars-to-be mentioned in its lyrics were members of the Lovin' Spoonful and the Byrds.
But the group's heyday was brief and it disbanded in 1968 following John and Michelle Phillips' divorce. The members re-formed in 1971 for the album "People Like Us," but all hope for a reunion ended in 1974 when the 30-year-old Elliot choked and suffered a fatal heart attack while eating a sandwich in London.
Phillips briefly re-formed the group in 1982 with Doherty, Phillips' actress daughter, Mackenzie, and Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane.
The foursome toured playing oldies and new Phillips originals.
In 2003, Doherty was co-author and performer in an off-Broadway show called "Dream a Little Dream: The Mamas and the Papas Musical," which traced the band's early years, its dizzying fame and breakup.
"There's a part of this thing that if I'm not careful, I'd be just a blob on the stage crying my guts out," Doherty told The Associated Press at the time. "Everybody knows about death and dying and sadness, so it's an exercise in staying in the moment and not getting maudlin about your friends dying."
John Phillips died in 2001 at 65.
The Halifax-born Doherty started his music career in Montreal in 1960 as the co-founder of the Colonials, which later became the Halifax Three.
Doherty made a solo album in 1974 and achieved a bit of immortality by both playing the Harbormaster and voicing all the characters for the children's TV series "Theodore Tugboat."
Fox's once-hot 'The O.C.' plagued by low ratings, is cancelled
Wed Jan 03, 09:07 PM EST
LOS ANGELES (AP) - "The O.C.," the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades, has been cancelled.
The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, Fox TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday. The finale "will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago," series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement. "It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do."
Based in the affluent Orange County, Calif., city of Newport Beach, "The O.C." caught fire in its first season, 2003-04, as the top-rated drama among advertiser-favoured young adults and with a total audience of nearly 10 million.
The show's story lines revolved around Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie), an outsider thrust into a heady new world of money and sex, and rich high school kids including Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) and Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) and their families.
"The O.C." didn't sustain its momentum, dropping to about seven million weekly viewers during 2004-05 and then to fewer than six million last season. This year, returning in November after Fox wrapped its postseason baseball coverage, "The O.C." has only drawn about four million viewers.
The third-season finale's high drama, in which Marissa was killed in a car crash, didn't turn the series around. This year found Ryan confronting the death of his one-time girlfriend and the man who caused it.
Fox ordered 16 episodes for the 2006-07 season and all will have aired when the series concludes in February, a network spokesman said Wednesday.
Others in the show's cast include Peter Gallagher, Kelly Rowan, Melinda Clarke, Rachel Bilson and Autumn Reeser.
Despite its brief heyday, the show helped establish cast members including Brody, Bilson and Barton as fan and tabloid favourites.
A replacement for the series was not immediately announced by Fox.
